OUR LADY OF LOURDES HEALTH SYSTEM
ONLINE BIDDING RULES

 

For you to participate in this staffing program, you are required to comply with all of the following rules:

1. You must be an associate of Our Lady of Lourdes Health System

2. If you are on orientation, in the suspension mode or a performance improvement plan (PIP), or on a leave of absence for any reason, or in a modified-duty position, you are not eligible to participate.

3. Should you choose to bid for a shift during a vacation period you must relinquish scheduled paid personal leave (PPL)

4. Competencies, mandatory safety in-services, CPR certification, trauma requirements, and other required credentials (i.e. ACLS, PALS), must be up-to-date and complete as reflected on written documentation maintained by you to be eligible to bid in areas requiring such competencies.

5. Bid(s) will be considered for the staffing needs and skill mix of specialty units.

6. If your home nursing unit has needs for a shift at the same time as another unit, you are required to bid for your home unit. Home unit associates will be considered prior to outside unit bidders.

7. You can only bid for those shifts and holidays in excess of your scheduled work hours.
  • Ex. – You must first meet your current scheduling obligations, according to your status or categories.

8. You cannot work more than 16 hours in a 24 hours period.

9. You cannot bid on shifts less than (<) 4 hour increments and for continuity of care standards twelve (12) hour bids will have priority over split shifts in the acceptance process.

10. If you call out two (2) times within a 6 month period after being accepted to work on a bidded shift, you are ineligible to bid for 6 months.

11. You must submit all bid(s) via computer. (exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances).

12. If you bid on a shift and then call out on another scheduled shift during the same pay period, you will not receive your bid rate. However, you will receive your base pay for the bidded shift for which you actually worked.

13. You cannot switch a scheduled shift with another nurse in order to participate in this staffing program.

14. At the time of the bid, it is your responsibility to provide the staffing department with direct contact information, for bid disposition. Failure to do so may result in becoming bid ineligible.

15. Once a bid is accepted, and you are no longer able to work that shift, it will be considered one call-out.

16. In the event of 2 associates bidding identically, the computer time stamp will determine which associate gains the bid.

17. Bid Review Process:

Bids will be reviewed/accepted no less than 24 hours prior to the bidded shift start time.

  • Accepted Bid Shifts and Rejected Bid Shifts:

    It is the responsibility of the associates to view the status of bids via the bid status option on Lourdesbid.org. The associate will have one week prior to the bid shift to reject the shift. Less than one week cancellation after the bid shift is accepted will be considered a call out.

18. If your bid is rejected and a need resurfaces, the Department will call you back and request that you work at the original bid rate. You are not required to accept this offer.

19. If the unit census changes and you are not needed:

a. You will be offered a position on another unit at the original bid rate. Or,
b. You will be cancelled up to 1 ½ hours prior to the beginning of the shift.
c. You will be placed on call and called back at the original bid rate, in place of travel time.

20. The outline for cancellation procedures will be as per Department policy.

21. If a shift is offered to you as a bid shift and you work the bid shift you must place a bid before the end of the shift. If no bid is placed you will not receive bid rate.

22. When clocking in for a bid shift please enter #2 for special code and the cost center where you are working. If you do not clock in or out with the special code #2 you will not receive bid rate.
